Maria Goula

Maria Goula, Ph.D, 2007 UPC,  is a licenced Landscape Architect whose research interests revolve around three themes: cartographic tactics to unveil values and processes of rural landscapes with the aim to inform local policies for their better management, the study of leisure spatial patterns, especially in regard to communicating the reclaiming of the coast as a landscape; finally,  contemporary design critique through her twenty year involvement as a foundational member of  the International Landscape Architecture Biennial in Barcelona.

While she is a fulltime-educator, currently an Associate Professor at the Landscape Architecture Department, Cornell University and acting Director of the Institute for  European Studies at Cornell, she is involved in  design projects, as for example, the design proposal of ?Upstate Archipelago?, co-led with Jamie Vanucchi,   and with N+H+S, the Netherlands, as consultants.  The design is one of the finalists for the ?Reimagining the New York Canals? international design competition July 2018.
