Nidesh Lawtoo is a philosopher and cultural/literary critic. He is Professor of Modern European Literature and Culture at Leiden University and PI of the ERC-funded project Homo Mimeticus. Located at the juncture of continental philosophy, literary theory and political theory, the general goal of Lawtoo?s publications is to develop a new theory of imitation to account for the transformations of homo mimeticus in the 21st Century. He is the author of a number of monographs including, The Phantom of the Ego: Modernism and the Mimetic Unconscious (2013), (New) Fascism: Contagion, Community, Myth (2019), Homo Mimeticus: A New Theory of Imitation (2022), Violence and the Oedipal Unconscious (2023) and Violence and the Mimetic Unconscious (2023) most of which are forthcoming with Tirant lo Blanch.
